A Very “Useful” Party
Today we finish our initial run-through on the Three Gates: “Is it True? Is it Kind? Is it Useful?”
###
The accuracy of our map (philosophy and view of life) is demonstrated in the frequency with which we reach our destinations and accomplish our ends. In fact, can you think of another standard that makes more sense?
A map, in other words, reveals its USEFULNESS in whether it accurately represents the territory. So long as you know where you are on the map (Truth) you should be able to plot out a route to your goal that avoids major obstacles. The usefulness of that map, then, lies in whether you know where you are going AND WHERE YOU ARE. “Truth.” If your goals are in alignment with your needs and desires, you are being “Kind” to yourself. If in alignment with evolved values, they will also be “kind” to others.
What remains is the question of usefulness.
Today let’s finish the discussion of the Three Gates, which is a means of creating a good human being, one who is honest, kind, and efficient/effective. Given that root, the flowerings can be wonderful. In fact, there are few problems a person has that can’t be improved or alleviated by a judicious application of greater honesty and clarity, greater kindness and love, and a deeper commitment to doing what WORKS. That map is created by clarifying goals, and finding others who have accomplished the same things starting with the same resources.
