Ascending Spirals

My meditation this morning included an urgent message from “Little Stevie” down there in the vault. “Do NOT leave meditation today without talking to me, Daddy!”

The conversation was about the 108/30 challenge (108 Sun Salutations a day for thirty days. I am currently investigating what it would take to successfully complete this). A number of things were discussed:

  1. There are many versions of the Sun Salutation. Some, modified for the elderly or sick, are so easy that I could obviously do 108 of them now. It would be a MENTAL and EMOTIONAL challenge, not a physical one. So…release my fear. The trick will be “riding my breath”: finding the level of engagement where I accepting enough intensity to keep my focus, without harming myself. So…that would be a pain level below a 3, a level of grace and form at an 8+, and an intensity right around a “6”. The “Goldilocks Zone.” This requires real attention, and flowing with what my body tells me. A little like taking a canoe down some mild rapids. Just pay attention. Lose focus, and yes, I could hurt myself. Pay attention and I reach a destination I’ve never known.
  2. I am correct that this challenge, if accepted and mastered, will change “me.” No. It will peel away another layer of my ego shell. I have earned the right to do this: Jason is now a young man, and while he WANTS me, he doesn’t NEED me in the same way. Any remaining fear I have of not fulfilling my obligation to him can now go away: it is ego bullshit, using my sense of duty to slow me down.
