Behold! The Only Thing Greater Than Yourself!
If Jason has really decided he wants his driver’s license…I’ve got him. GOT HIM. Nailed. I mean this in the very best sense. When I first met him, he was about a week old. T had brought him home from the hospital, and I flew across the country to Florida to meet my son. It was about eight in the evening by the time I reached her parents’ home, and my eyes were filled with tears as the dream of a lifetime came to reality. I held this little bundle of infinite potential, and took him outside. The house was in the country, and there was a beautiful canopy of stars. I literally held him up to those stars and did the Roots thing: “Behold! The only thing greater than yourself!”
And I swore in that moment, promised God, that I would deliver him safely to his adulthood. I have over the years gained his trust, and he KNOWS I love him, have given everything to my family, and he is willing to believe. Trust.
So even though he has been reluctant to really care about anything…he may well have finally given me the leverage I need to help him excel.
Let’s take a look at WHY this is true. Well…it is true because your “Why” is more important than your “How”. Once you admit that you care, that there is an issue in your life so important you are willing to do Whatever It Takes to achieve it, you have the emotional “juice” you need to motivate action.
