Big Birthday coming up…how do I feel about that?

Yeah, those “zero” birthdays make you sit up and notice that the calendar isn’t joking.

So many of my teachers are dead or side-lined now. I think it important to ALWAYS have mentors, so I’ve changed my standards. They no longer have to be writers, or martial artists, or even have long-term relationships. But they have to have succeeded massively in ways I can apply, and none of their core principles can CONFLICT with the principles that lead to success in those areas.

So a business mentor who writes non-fiction, is happily married, and projects serious energy (say, Brendon Burchard) is a perfectly fine mentor-figure. I look at the people he’s taught (his student/friends) and both he and they seem to have origin stories in the right ball park. His morals and ethics, so far as I can determine, are in the right direction. A lovely thing is that the pattern of his thought seems to appeal to Tananarive, something that was never true with any of the other business coaches like Tony Robbins or Russell Brunson. So while I think Robbins the best who ever lived at his particular skill, the downsides outweigh the upsides. Having a common language with Tananarive as we build our business is critical.

And let me tell you why. So…I’m making another, and perhaps last, run at Hollywood. I lost decades off my career due to family and other issues we’ve discussed previously. But I think that there are opportunities now that never existed before. The only question is: can I take advantage of…
