BLM Marches and January 6th

I had a reader suggest that denial of January 6th’s danger and traitorous nature is equivalent to “The Left’s” attitude toward the BLM marches and violence. For a number of reasons, I don’t think this logical or reasonable, although I can empathize to a degree.

A riot in a city that tries to take city hall in an attempt to overturn a contested election at the behest of a mayor who refuses to admit he lost is the city-level equivalent. But even if every piece of that is equivalent, the danger is whatever the population fraction might be. On average, what….

.1% as bad?

If at a state level, what, 2% as bad? And that would be IF you agreed with their motivations and arguments.

If I believe in BLM matters, and a racist President was wrongfully elected, and BLM people stormed the capital, I would think it the greatest tragedy of my life, and the end of America as I knew it…and would wonder if there were not some other answer. If there wasn’t another way, as this would change things forever.

And I would also know that it would be perfectly reasonable for the Average American to disagree, and think me emotionally disturbed on the Flat Earther level. IF I supported the action, and I can’t pretend that is impossible, I’d understand that. My only defense would be if the President I was trying to re-instate was of impeccable character, and my reasons to believe the election stolen based on the most solid evidence I could find. And I’d still know that my actions would seem…
