“Brightburn” (2019)

“Brightburn” is a nasty piece of work, in a good way. I mean, anyone who has ever raised kids knows that it’s not possible to control them if you are never able to discipline them or limit their physical movement. So the whole “Superman” mythology of the Super-baby who magically behaves Ma and Pa Kent without being spanked, grabbed, put in Time Out or anything else is sort of absurd.

But asking what would happen, I mean REALLY happen isn’t often done. We know the set-up: Kansas couple finds baby in alien spaceship and raises him on their own. And you can guess from the trailers that Bad Things Happen. You also know that, apparently, Warner Brothers’ lawyers were all asleep when THIS puppy came down the pike.

Mostly PG-13, but when it decides to demonstrate what super-powers would do to mortal flesh, they seriously go there. T and I had a great time, but “Smallville” this aint.

Fun for the whole family. If it’s the Addams’ family.
