Bruce Lee’s “Circle of Iron,” “Adulting,” and Tricking the Ego
In the Bruce Lee created, David Carradine starring (and don’t get me started on the ugly irony of THAT) movie “Circle of Iron” a blind man has been displaying bizarre behavior, until his student, a young warrior, explodes with anger and curiosity. The blind man explains the logic behind his seemingly whimsical (or nutty) actions, and the student is baffled. “But how could you know X? How could you possibly have predicted Y?” and suddenly is enlightened, realizing that the blind, wise man knows because of prior experience. “You’ve been here before!” he says, astonished.
The blind man pops him on the forehead, a little Shakti pat, and asks: “How many times?”
Just a great moment. I’d give serious money to see what Bruce could have done with that. Sigh.

There are seven steps for creating deep change in another person, and the three most important are:
- Rapport and Leverage
- Break pattern
- Connect to higher purpose.
So today I took another step toward really nailing Jason down on the path between this moment of his life, and his full adulthood. The question “what is an adult?” is kinda primary here, and we’ll define that as an individual who is responsible for their room and board, their actions and emotions. While limited, all simple statements are.
Make sense?
