Dancing Your Way To Mastery

Imagine driving in a car with an old analogue radio, across the I-10 between two distant cities. You try to tune your radio to find something to listen to, and most of the time you get a bunch of static. Then…you catch a station. Something is playing and its lovely. And you notice that if you simply drive so that the music continually gets clearer and stronger, you are also heading in the same direction.

Catch that? At first you are following a map, or a compass. Then you find the music, and if you follow it, you are able to forget the map, and still end up in the same place.

O.K. Lets say that’s like seeking a valid goal in any single area of your life: body, emotions, or mind. You follow external maps until you hear the music, then just dance toward your destination. If you can pardon my clumsy analogy, the rest of this might make sense.

O.K. Imagine traveling in a four dimension space, driving three directions at once. Or maybe on alternate days. You drive, following a map, and from time to time you hear the music. The next day, you drive in a different direction, toward a different goal, and if you keep tuning, you hear the same song. And follow it. On the third day, you drive in yet another direction, until you hear the same song.

And then you discover that if you just start the car in the morning, and tune looking for that song, if you drive toward it, somehow all three destinations become the same. In fact if I can stretch the analogy a bit, it is as if you are tuning three…
