What an absolute goldmine this post is for me! The accompanying piece, Laziness Does Not Exist gave me great perspective and clarity in ways that I can’t begin to describe. There is a lot to be said about leading with an open, loving heart.

Morning essays are just a way to clear out my head, see how I’m thinking about things, warm up the old noggin for a day of work and play. Re-assessing values and reminding myself of the most important things in life. What I look for is interesting things in the day’s news, or a recent film, or the comments of a reader. The above comment catches interest because there is truth in it, but also a problem.

“Anahata Meditation,” heartbeat-centered focus, was the gift of Sri Chinmoy, my first spiritual guru. And it is powerful and healing. If one thinks of the “Three Energy Centers”, (Belly Brain, Heart Center, Head Center) then one of the great rules, slightly rephrased, is “you can Awaken from the heart, or the belly, but never from the head.”

What this really means is the you can operate from a place of loving connection, or from a place connected to the Earth and core survival drives…but never START with concepts and ego. Do that, and you’ll twist every observation and experience to meet your internal…
