Don’t Just Get Out Of Bed…Wake Up!
More on Mindstorming by “slamming” one model against another. Today is Friday, which is “Core alignment” day: constantly checking to see if your goals and actions are aligned with your truest, deepest self. With the Three Gates, so that you are never tempted to take shortcuts. With your ultimate questions, such as “what is more important than my own life?” or “what was the shape of my face before my parents were born?”
Go deeper. And here is how it relates to the Road of Trials. Most stories, GOOD stories, are about a moment in which someone learned, grew, changed. Ideally, they become STRONGER, realer. Of course you can also write about someone sinking into deeper delusion, just getting older and more tired.
If your life is built on lies, eventually stress will crack that ego shell. You have built your castle on shifting sand instead of bedrock. Worse, sometimes you built it atop a cess pool. Eventually, squirmy things will wiggle up and ruin your day.
So there is a “gap” between where you are and where you need to be. And that gap is that you have goals and dreams, but you are NOT the person who can actually have those dreams. THAT is revealed in looking at your daily habits: are they the habits of a winner? Of this particular TYPE of winner? A simple version of this is that an athlete works out every day. A parent nurtures their child every day. A businessman works at his job every day. Don’t do these things, and you are violating the very basic nature of the Thing itself.
