Don’t Leave Your Life In The Drawer

BREATHE!!

Every morning I meditate and visualize my inner world, seeing if I see what I can do today to progress just 1%. And don’t get out of bed until my mind and heart tell me how to do that. And sometimes that involves looking at, or listening to, the different aspects of my being.

The “Parts Party” technique from Ericksonian Hypnosis separates different parts of your personality out, names them to make them easy to reference, and then introduces them to each other as if they are all attending a party.

The assumption is that any persistent problems in your life are not merely about the outside world, but also involve your internal world: the actions you take, the beliefs and values you hold, the conflicts between goals and values, and your self image. Only if all of these are aligned for your greater good do you have your best chance of dealing with life.

Note: there are no guarantees in life. Even totally aligned, and taking nothing but perfect actions based on the information available, you can still lose. So one of the first things you have to do is be certain that you could survive that disappointment.

If, when faced with a challenge, I meditate and visualize the different aspects of my personality: artist, teacher, father, lover, warrior, healer, and so on, the question is:

“What hidden part of me could solve this problem?”
