Eating the Elephant

2 min readJul 24, 2025

QOD: “What’s one ‘necessary evil’ (task, conversation) I’ve been delaying?”

Affirmation:

“Breathe through stress and its never strain.”

Jim Rohn said: “Don’t start your day until you finish it on paper.”

Your 5MM anchors focus and stress management into your neurology. Once you have that, start refining and expanding. One of the very first and most important things is to write down today’s 1% progress. Every day write down 3 things you intend to accomplish to reach your goal. If you have a big, scary goal ATTACK IT FIRST. Even if it is just a small step. When a writer gets back a manuscript with editorial notes, it can be SCARY. You can feel sick to your stomach. All your impostor voices can jump into your ears. But by writing down the small goals, you can start understanding what you are dealing with.

Maybe the first day you read through the notes until you find ONE thing to fix. Maybe just a typo!

The next day find two things, minimum.

The next day four.

And then eight.

Easing your way in, but prioritizing the most important things in your life, is the way. How do you eat an elephant? One forkful at a time.

Call To Action:

Write three goals you will address tomorrow.

One physical goal. Ten minutes of walking, yoga, mobility.

One emotional goal. Ten minutes of positive input (if you’re clever, you can do this WHILE walking or stretching!)

One career/financial goal. Make a call you’ve been avoiding. Write a page. Check your finances.

Get ALL this started with just five minutes a day. You can test this in just five days, and learn all you need at www.lifewrite.com in the “5x5” section.

Memento Mori!
