Escaping the Labyrinth
King Minos’ daughter and princess of Crete Ariadne fell in love with Theseus at first sight and promised to help him beat the Minotaur. She therefore gave Theseus a spool of thread that he let unwind through the labyrinth so that he wouldn’t lose his path.

If you want to get better at something, find someone who has mastered it, and listen to what they say. If you want to master it, find SEVERAL people who have mastered it, and find the critical similarities between their actions, beliefs, and values.
And…the reverse is true as well. While 80% of your time should be modeling success (say in my instance, best-selling/award winning writers, master martial artists with amazing healthy students, grandparents who have been ecstatically married for 30+ years) it is also useful to note the attitudes, beliefs, and values of the people who have NOT succeeded in those arenas.
Trust me: they will NOT be the same attitudes. And if you will study multiple cases, and extract the “critical path” leading to FAILURE in the arenas you care about…you’ve taken another step.
Now…compare the critical paths. Really grasp the differences. Success is simple in the sense that it is just “chop wood, carry water” with a few basic habits every day. After all, in some critical ways life is just hunting and gathering, mating, and singing your song. Simple. Truth is simple.
