How To Outwit The Six Ghosts of Fear
“How much do you know about fear?” “All there is.” — SKYFALL
###
“Before you can put any portion of this philosophy into successful use, your mind must be prepared to receive it. The preparation is not difficult. It begins with study, analysis, and understanding of three enemies which you shall have to clear out. These are indecision, doubt, and fear!” — Think And Grow Rich
##
It is critical to remember that Think And Grow Rich was written at the tail end of the Great Depression, and was SPECIFICALLY designed to help lift up shattered people. It was not, in any way, saying that everyone can bootstrap themselves if they just have enough grit. It is VERY specific that you must also have specialized knowledge, role models, patterns of effective action, emotional control, and inspiring goals if you would overcome bad luck or ugly circumstance.
It deals specifically and directly with the power of poverty and deprivation to break the spirit and crush ambition and the very creativity needed to solve life’s problems. You can be intelligent, honest, and of fine character…and frozen, unable to act.
And you’d better believe that there are forces who WANT you to be indecisive and weak. They either profit from it (people seeking to hire for less than you are worth), wish to influence your votes with fear, or want you to reinforce THEIR insecurities by affirming that “nothing can be done. Let’s just get drunk together.”
