Keep The Blessing Going
YAYYY! I just got EXACTLY the kind of letter I love to receive:
“Hello,
A little over a year a go when you were in Kansas City for ConQuesT we made a bet that if I wrote a story every two weeks and submitted each that I could sell a story within a year. I wrote six stories (far short of the goal) but I kept them submitted and did sell one within a year. So I owe you $100. I can pay through PayPal. Please let me know a good email address to which to send the payment or if you like you can send a payment request to me. My email address is (XXXX) Thanks for the challenge.
M.C.”
You see that? You see this woman? SHE WANTED IT. And she trusted someone who had been down the road before her. I cared enough to risk a hundred bucks for a stranger, and she was honest enough, and loved herself enough, to allow that motivation to move her to victory. THIS IS WHY I DO IT.
By the way…that hundred bucks will go to the Poor Orphans of Uganda foundation, a school I support in Africa. Got to keep the blessings circulating!

The steps to “guaranteed publication” are just like this, my friends:
- Write a sentence a day.
- Write 1–4 short stories a month
- Put them in the mail, keep them in the mail.
- Don’t rewrite except to editorial request
- Read 10X what you write
- Repeat 100X
