Love As The Doorway To Growth

Our 18 year old son Jason postponed and postponed his meeting yesterday. He originally said he wanted to do it at 3:30 every day. But it got pushed to 5:30 yesterday, and I had to unplug his internet at one point just to be sure he understood I was serious. We DO need both pain and pleasure to guide our behavior. This bugs me. I HATE using pain of any kind, but it kinda goes with the job.

Anyway, the lovely thing is that once he came in and sat down, it was 100% positive

  1. He set his alarm, and arrived promptly at 5:29.
  2. He was open, friendly, communicative.
  3. We went down the M.A.G.I.C. formula.
  4. He had watched the Trent Shelton marketing video, but needed to watch it again. We gave him until 10pm to do this, and he came to us at 9:30 fully prepared to discuss not three but FOUR different tips, most importantly to speak from your passion, with honesty.
  5. He was definitely taking actions, even if they were on HIS schedule, not mine. That 1% improvement is real. He has until the end of the week to make a video and post it. He described his strategy, of doing videos without showing his face or using his voice — just the image and on-screen text. According to him, this builds “mystery” and leads to the viewers begging for an “unmasking.” These kids!
  6. He is getting better at his “swish” patterns (what we call “changes”).
  7. Using his journal every day. Not fully. Maybe only 20%. I’ll take it…
