M.A.G.I.C. and Love

The M.A.G.I.C. formula is on one level one powerful approach to organizing yourself for success. But there is a “hidden” aspect to using “Map, Action, Gratitude, Intention, Confidence”

It is connected to the “a watched pot never boils” notion. Other ways to look at the same notion is “When you don’t have a job you can’t get a job, until you’ve got a job, and then everyone offers you jobs.”

Or: “If you’re broke you can’t get a loan. But as soon as you have money, everyone offers you credit.”

Or: “If you don’t have a lover you can’t get one, until you’ve got one, and then offers come out of the wood-work.”

If you cluster these, you get a notion that focusing on something with desperation defeats your purpose. How about this?

“If you are an artist, you are searching for a way to express your emotions and perspective through your craft. If you succeed, the world will clamor to back dump-trucks of money up to your porch, if only you’ll stop doing that, and instead `make more of what you did last time.’”

Getting that? How about this quote, Albert Brooks from “Broadcast News”: “Wouldn’t it be great if NEEDY was a turn-on?”

Yeah, well it isn’t. Hell, even:

“You can’t lose weight and keep it off by counting calories and denying yourself. You have to focus on what you WANT, for instance a healthier life, represented by healthier eating and moving, in balance, to create an energy or vitality that you deeply…
