Making Your Own Luck
“Luck” is clearly a factor in life, and the M.A.G.I.C. formula is designed to actually increase “luck” — the frequency with which happy accidents happen, as well as your preparedness to take advantage of them when they do.
Map or Model of success: find someone who started where you started, and got where you want to go.
Action. Taking daily actions designed to bring you, one step at a time, closer to your long and short term goals.
Gratitude. Remembering all the things you have to feel grateful for. EVERYONE reading this has such things, unless you wouldn’t be sad to lose your eyesight, ability to read, or internet access. If you would be sad if you lost something, it is nuts not to be grateful you have it.
Intention. A CLEAR goal, with a deadline, with short and long term steps.
Conviction/Confidence. You have to BELIEVE that you can and should make the efforts to reach your goal, and that those steps, and that accomplishment, will bring more pleasure than pain into your life.
If you have a “zero” in any of these areas, you are like a boatman with one oar: you will row in a circle until you exhaust yourself. Or a one-armed swimmer who swims in a circle until they drown. You can exert tons of energy and accomplish nothing. The M.A.G.I.C. formula should be your minimum: it shows you are in the game.
