Stressed out? Feel like your life is out of your control? Can’t finish that book? Can’t exercise? Don’t have time for your love life? Combining a “Morning Ritual” and “Done By One” can be a life saver.

“A question for anyone who cares to comment. I’ve been working on a morning ritual for years now, and I’m struggling with the order/sequence of my routine. My key elements are meditation, journaling (includes a checklist accountability exercise), morning coffee, warm up, CARS (controlled articulated rotations — yogi-like joint health movements), cardio, and strength (free weights and bands) exercises. If it was you, in what order? Gratitude in advance for any shared insights or suggestions.” — Charles Ward

Let’s use Charles’ terminology: a “morning ritual” is the structured activity first thing in the morning. “The first hour of the day” which drives the rest of the day. He’s doing a group of VERY positive things. Its GREAT! I’d put them in THIS order:

Meditation

Warm Up

Morning Coffee

Journaling

CARS

Cardio or strength (alternate)

I’d also put this into a “done by one” format, so that I have to do ALL of this, plus the most essential work aspects (say, 4 Pomodoros) before 1 o’clock.

So…

  1. Wake up. Probably remember the most…
