BREATHE!

My 17 year old son Jason is continuing to surprise me, taking more responsibility for his life in so many little ways. I asked him to make 1% improvement a week, and it feels more like about…3%. Stunning. Here are the standards he’s aiming at:

Three Gates

Three Centers

M.A.G.I.C. Ritual

The Three Gates (Is it True? Is it Kind? Is it Useful?) are his guides to becoming a moral, effective human being.

The Three Centers (Body Center, Heart Center, Head Center) are the guide rails — respect them, and if becomes very difficult to hurt yourself by spinning out of balance. I mean…if you are healthy, loved and loving, and financially successful how bad can life be?

The M.A.G.I.C. Ritual (along with the Five Minute Miracle) is the specific technique through which you test and increase your readiness to take on the day. If your body, emotions, and mind are all aligned, you are bringing your very best self to the day.

The point is to take all the basic things you need to survive and thrive and place them at “unconscious competence” so that during the day, all you have to do is think about your breathing and you center and still yourself. Or better still, you just be YOU all day, and everything falls in place.

Each of these expands outward infinitely: there is a lifetime of discussion about any of them. For instance, at some point I”ll expand “Three Gates” into…
