Moving in the “Eye of the Storm”

Wow. We’re finally moved into the new house! The last months have been non-stop stress: house hunting (Tananarive took the lion’s share of this responsibility), packing, planning, loading, hiring, unpacking, managing finances. The trick is that the move needed to happen just as our lease expired, and the money supply goes up and down. So we needed to save more carefully than usual. But everything worked out!

Now Tananarive is in New York at a high-level television conference, while I pack and unpack and drive truck. Jason went over with me last night and we got the very last of the stuff in a 20-foot van, and drove it to the new house. This morning we unpacked it. At about 1:30 I’ll drive the truck back to U-Haul, Uber to the old house, and pick up my car, pay the cleaning ladies, and drive home. What a relief that will be!

But through it all, for the both of us, we’ve had to keep:

  1. Clear minds for planning and action.
  2. Balanced emotions so that fatigue or anxiety doesn’t make us snap at each other.
  3. Healthy bodies, even if we cannot manage our full exercise routines.

Chaos reigns. But knowing WHAT we need to accomplish and WHY we want it, allows us to organize the “HOWS” properly. The “how”, under pressure, is the FIREDANCE MORNING RITUAL.

If I have only ten minutes, I can zip through the tai chi form while chanting affirmations, visualizing my role models, and flooding myself with positive emotions…
