Dealing with fear, in all its forms, is one of the most important things in life, and if anxiety, stress, anger and other affiliated “fight or flight” emotions limit you, you need to find a practice that copes with them, and perform this practice BEFORE you become consciously aware of your negative reaction. Often, by the time you feel the emotions consciously, it is too late: you are off the track, and have to wait for the cycles of disruption to calm before you can even try to calm,.

What are some of the practices that deal with fear pre-emptively, systemically?

  1. The “Five Minute Miracle” (breathing diaphragmatically for 60 seconds, once every 1–3 hours)
  2. “Morning Ritual”
  3. Meditation
  4. Journaling
  5. Aerobic exercise
  6. Specialized physical and mental exercises (the “Spider Technique” for instance, is magical if you have basic aerobic fitness)
  7. Taking action on a chosen goal.
  8. Hugs and connecting with friends.

If I look at the 3–4 major arenas of life, whenever I ask myself why I’m not further along with them, the answer is always found in the M.A.G.I.C. formula:

  1. I don’t have a clear MAP of what needs to be done. Usually because I”ve listened to people who HAVEN’T done the thing.
  2. I don’t have a clear sense of the MINIMUM ACTIONS I need to take daily, and am not taking them…
