Save Yourself From Stress

Every day, I hear people talking about how horribly stressed they are. So once again, I’d like to offer thoughts on what I’d do if I had a client with such an issue.

  1. First, they have to grasp that their concerns are real. We ARE under massive stress. There really ARE things to fear…don’t listen to anyone tell you differently. You are not hallucinating or weak.
  2. On the other hand, I see no reason at all to despair. The human race has been through a lot worse. From my perspective, I think AMERICA has been through worse, and in my own lifetime. There are always people who think the end is neigh. And we always get through it. Worse case scenario — we don’t. But despair was still never your optimal position. And if there is only a tiny chance we’ll make it? That chance will be facilitated by people with clear minds and courageous hearts. There is NO scenario in which it is best to let stress crunch you like a handful of old tin foil.
  3. Stress has a powerful physiological component. As long as you don’t have the physiological symptoms, your psychology remains centered. And if your mind is centered, you don’t experience the physiological symptoms as severely. So it is a loop, and you can interject your will anywhere in the loop and get a positive result. BUT YOU MUST ACT.
  4. I would suggest you start with modifying your breathing, for a variety of reasons. Reasons later, actions now.
