For the last two weeks, Jason has been receptive to doing a simple “morning ritual”. Basic incantations combined with physical posture, and dynamic voice. And he HAS been able to shift his emotions. “Every day in every way, I”m getting stronger and stronger” was the beginning, because he BELIEVES in himself physically. But after a few days, I got him to try “smarter and smarter” and “better and better”. Although I could tell by his wry smile that his internal voices were chewing at him, he did it. Successfully.

Also got him to admit he wants to be a leader, and he accepted my definition of “leader” as someone who can help others find and direct their excellence, and that a leader FIRST has to do this for themselves. Enrolled him in the career excitement going on right now, and that I NEED him to help ME help HIM…because if I can, I’ve upped my game as a person, father, and leader.

He bought it. Might be a thin sheet of ice over a boiling lake of fear…but he bought it. Now, having created a very basic outline, I can begin deepening it. The notion is that if he has his own internal motivations to improve, and has the resources, he’ll figure it the @#$$ out. I DO NOT KNOW WHICH STRATEGIES WILL WORK BEST FOR HIM, or in what combination. But I have to have faith that some part of him knows damned well what he needs do to become a man who can be a leader, a lover, an athlete, and a financial success.

Today I’m going to try something a little different for our 3:00 meeting.

  1. Pain if he doesn’t get…
