To learn something deeply, go into it until you see and feel the connections between it and something you already know. Do that, and beautiful connections emerge that no one else on the planet can see in quite the way YOU see it…because no one has the specific collection of learnings and experiences that you have had.

Imagine a plumber checking for a blockage in your water system: why aren’t you getting hot water in the kitchen? Lots of people would check the faucet, even take it apart. But there are more important things to consider. First, is the water main in the street got pressure? No? Fix it there. Yes? Move up to the house. Is the water getting to the house, at least the yard faucet? No? Check the pipe between faucet and street main. Yes? Go into the house and check the water heater. Is the water getting to the water heater…?
Check every segment, one at a time. Starting at the source. Imagine how unwise it would be to try to get hot water in the kitchen by changing the washers in the sink, if there is nothing coming from the street?
If you get water all the way through the system, it doesn’t mean you’ll be a good cook, but at least you are ready to boil water. Got that?
