The End of a Year, or the Beginning of a Life?

I know so many people who lack this connection, who look at words like this and consider it pure fantasy. Who actively avoid specific and focused interaction with their bodies. I know, I know…it is less “boring” to watch television or read a book as we exercise, no question. And if I suspect that it isn’t boredom but avoidance that motivates some folks, that’s my opinion. What might they be avoiding? Well, the Hawaiian spiritual community, the “Huna” folks, say that the body is like a black bag, where we hold all our unprocessed emotions. In other words, if we have fear, guilt, rage, other “negative” emotions…memories of abuse, neglect, failure, and so forth, we can “stuff” them in our bodies and just not deal with them. We become “brains in boxes”, with perhaps nothing but intellect…
