The Five Minute Miracle Part 2

So yesterday I discussed what caught my attention about Scott Sonnon: his “Flow State Performance Spiral” which explained in Russian sports medicine terms a phenomenon I’d heard discussed in shamanic and martial arts: psychological time distortion. As I had experienced it, I knew it to be true, and people who had accurately described the path of martial or yogic development claimed that the path ahead, that which they were currently experiencing, included more powerful manifestations of this state. Their performance and overall integrity suggested that this was true, and as long as I continued to travel that road if their map continued to be accurate it improved my trust in what they said lay beyond the horizon.
So…I went deeper. There were lots of things Scott had learned in Russia, while training in Sambo. One was detailed in his “Be Breathed” DVD. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6SVmMotBQw . Basically, a complex, slow-motion sit-up/plough combination timed so that the motion compressed the diaphragm to create an exhalation/relaxation cycle that trains respiration in a unique way. Once learned in this slow motion sense (ten such combinations, taking at least one minute per rep) you could do it more rapidly, and begin integrating…
