The Morning ADHD Ritual
I’m recording thoughts on the most important aspects of the program we put together for our son. NOTE: NONE of this is a replacement for a medical professional. We consulted fully before and during the process of implementing these ideas. Have a professional in your resource circle.
That said, I believe that the parents are the most important influence, and offer these thoughts with that in mind.

I’ll probably evolve a “Ten Steps” style program, but it is definitely still in development. I have three steps that seem pretty solid, so I’ll recap and then drill down:
- Clarify your goal: an autonomous, healthy, successful adult human being, balanced in body, mind and emotions. Read that as healthy/fit, successful in business, and having wonderful loving relationships.
- COMMIT TO BECOMING that which you desire for your child, or the child “within”. Do NOT try to get your kid to do things you are unwilling or unable to do. IF you cannot do part of it, find an ally who can, who is willing to stand in.
- Implement a daily ritual, such that you know that if your child was able to do this independently for a year, you would know they’ve reached the benchmark. YOUR version of it should be something which, were you able to do it for a year, daily, you would be super proud, successful (so far as any direct efforts can guarantee this) emotionally balanced, and physically healthy.
