The Need for Courage and Clarity

Still exploring the implications of Brendon Burchard’s “High Performance” teachings, specifically the value of the six points: Clarity, Energy, Necessity, Productivity, Influence, and Courage.

Mary was interested in visiting a new Mexican restaurant downtown. “I don’t like Mexican food” her husband Todd said.

“They have an American menu as well” Mary replied.

“Well…I’m too tired to drive” Todd said.

“I’ll drive.”

“The parking is bad down there.”

“We’ll Uber,” she said.

“Its expensive. We shouldn’t eat out so much” Todd said.

“I’ve got a two-for-one coupon. More, I found a fifty dollar bill on the street. We eat!”

And so it went, with Todd throwing out one reason after another, Mary growing more and more flustered, until she became suspicious. “What’s the REAL problem?” she asked, hammering at him until he broke down. He was having an affair with his secretary. And…that was her new favorite restaurant and he was afraid they would bump into her.

You have to be careful to argue about what the argument is actually about, or people will waste your time. That is their POINT — to wear you down.
