The “Three Gates” and “Echo Chambers”

It was recently opined that exclusion of any political or philosophical positions creates an echo chamber. I thought it reasonable to address that. The Three Gates encourages your interactions to be not only Honest and Kind, but “Useful”. What is the use of exchanging ideas unless you believe the other person is at the least, being honest with you? If they excuse political lying “because its fun” as one person said, why would you assume they wouldn’t’ do the same to you, one-on-one?

I do not allow people who cannot take a clear positive position on equality to comment on race. Should I allow racists and those who will not oppose them a voice on my pages? To what purpose? I’ve been having this conversation longer than most of you have been alive, and it’s been twenty years since I’ve heard anything really new on the subject. Racists and their allies are repeating themselves. I no longer having any confidence that there is some bombshell I need to factor in. To the degree that is true, I can move on to considering the health of my community. Frankly, if you want to communicate to me about race, you are still welcome to send me a PM. If you want to have the conversation on my page, then you are deliberately seeking to access my audience.

Under what circumstances would I be wise to do that? The ultimate judgement about race is just information, and could well pass the Three Gates. My BELIEF that whites are not inferior doesn’t mean its true. However, I see nothing useful about allowing that discussion on my page. That would…
