The Three Gates and Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving should be the time to remember all that we have to be grateful for in life. And if you think you don’t have anything…remember that there are people with equal health, relationship, or financial problems…who don’t have internet access. OR know how to read. Or eyes to read with.
If you would miss any of those, be grateful you don’t have to.
But holidays can also be stresses. Family around the table can lead to old arguments rising again, and I think this is a good time to think about how to maintain Peace in a time of Thanks.
Today, gathering with the cohort with whom you are moving through life, if you experienced stresses last year then ANTICIPATE that there might be some this year, and actually WELCOME it as an opportunity to practice staying on balance.
Get ready: the Holidays are coming. Hell with that: the holidays are HERE!

The first and most important step is to gain rapport. People don’t care that you know until they know that you care. You DO love them, right? You DO want the best for them and their lives, right? The reason you argue is to help them see something you believe will make their lives better, yes? I mean, if you believe in the Three Gates, you have to believe that truth, reality, love, has a real value in life. So you aren’t arguing to “win” unless you define “winning” as helping a loved one understand what you think and feel, and WHY you think and feel it…right? If you don’t start from love…
