APPLYING THE THREE GATES TO LAST WEDNESDAY….AND THE PATH FORWARD

The Three Gates challenge I’m putting myself through lasts another 22 days. No, I’ve not been perfect, but I’ve tried, and questioned myself more deeply when I can see myself straying from it.

I wanted to apply the Gates (Is it True? Kind? Useful?) to our recent disturbances. All that follows is a true account of the way I think of these things. I cannot claim to be able to read minds, but everything makes sense to me based on my understanding of human nature.

1. When I was first confronted with Trump as a presidential candidate, my first thought was that it was impossible to ascertain if he would be USEFUL in the office, because of lack of ever working inside a public chain of command. We just didn’t know, and I wasn’t willing to take the risk.
2. The second strike was his “Birther” nonsense. It was obvious that he was lying, and that much of his crowd KNEW he was lying. Why? Because if they were ignorant enough to believe Obama was a Manchurian Candidate, they’d have taken to the streets just as we saw Wednesday. No. This was cruelty and dishonesty, the willingness to use racially-charged insult (the implication that all black leaders are just sock-puppets for white people goes back centuries) to stir up the yokels, or “own the Libs.” So we have cruelty and dishonesty, as well as it being impossible to determine if he would be useful BASED UPON THAT INITIAL INFORMATION.
