The World Needs You To Rise

The very worst thing about poverty, neglect, abuse and oppression is that it damages your belief that you can rise. If you are one of the few who has experienced these things and instead of being crushed got MAD, found that fierce survival beast, or your sense of divine destiny (either works!) then YOU might be the one to help lead your tribe out of the desert. It is not “shaming” to help people see they can and should be more than the sum of their wounds — the wounded desperately need to believe it is possible to heal, and will test you HARD if you say: “this bridge is solid. It will bear your weight”. Be strong. Be a light in the darkness. The world needs you.

If you can start with the “Five Minute Miracle” breathing, you can build beautifully atop that foundation. But people who cannot or will not discipline themselves to do it are unlikely to align with my path. Here are some of the benefits:

  1. Taking a 60-second diaphragmatic breathing break once per hour, five times a day, takes no money, little training, no special equipment, no amount of room. There is nothing external that will stop you.
  2. As with the “write a sentence a day” notion, there is NO logical, rational good reason not to do it. What remains is your emotional issues, value conflicts, lack of self-love, lack of clarity. The beautiful thing about such “atomic” goals is that when you remove your excuses, what remains are the ways you have your brakes on.
  3. If you breathe as if you are relaxed and powerful, your brain will escape overwhelm. You are creating an “eye of the storm”, an interruption of the stress →strain spiral that paralyzes.
  4. Once established as a habit, you can easily make your sessions more powerful by combining breathing and exercise, smiling, focusing your attention on an image that makes you happy (say, a picture of your children). You can deliberately TRAIN your nervous system to select for happiness.
  5. You will start noticing when you breath “in your chest” and begin to automatically switch to belly breathing. In time, you will begin to instinctively shift to resourceful physicality when under stress. Remember: stress does NOT hurt you. “Strain”, an amount of stress that distorts your physical or psychological structure, is what hurts you. And if you are breathing with power and centeredness, your body will NOT go into strain, and neither will your mind.
  6. The 5MM is the beginning of the Morning Ritual. Once established, simply expand the first session, add movement and affirmations relating the MAGIC Formula to your top three goals, one in each major arena. Be sure to have specific and measurable goals.

I could go on, but that last one stopped me. More explanation is useful. What if your goal is something subjective, like joy? Or a reduction of fear? How do you objectively measure that? Well…one approach is to ask “what would I be doing if I was more joyful? What would I do if I had less fear?”

Maybe you’d get together with your friends more. Spend more time in nature. Things that BRING joy or EXPRESS joy are often measurable. Time spent meditating, paining, writing, dancing etc.

Fear is just what stops us from experiencing joy, so they are connected. What if you are afraid of conflict? You might set a goal of two sparring classes a week. What if you are afraid of expressing yourself honestly in public? You might give a weekly speech to some local organization or other.

“Lifewriting” was the original self-improvement structure, relating the Hero’s Journey to life itself. And it is still the most integrated structure of my life. MAGIC is a way I zero in:

Mentors are “ALLIES”

Action includes the POWER to act.

Gratitude is the door to FAITH

Intention is ACCEPTING THE CHALLENGE

Core Conviction is the self knowledge that enables the Hero to rise and teach the next generation to find that power within them. THE STUDENT BECOMES THE TEACHER when your actions have aligned with your deep being long enough for the seeds to sprout and grow.

This is how MAGIC and the HERO’S JOURNEY connect with each other. Study and apply them until you automatically know where you are and what you need, what is working and what is broken. Then, in each 5MM session, as you breathe you can ask how you are doing with balancing them, or where you are, or what you need.

Most people don’t check in with their lives more than once a month. Imagine what happens if you “check in” FIVE TIMES A DAY? You are absorbing more information, by far. Performing practical experiments in discipline, focus, and self-love. Increasing the joy. Mastering fear. Focusing on your goals.

FIVE TIMES A DAY.

What do YOU think would happen if you were simultaneously turning fear into energy, untying the knots between you and your destiny, connecting with your mentor images, and overall checking the “map” of progress to your goal.

Just stay out of “zero” in any of the MAGIC Formula steps, and you will progress by 1% per week minimum. Add the 5MM and Morning Ritual and you have the potential to leverage yourself up to a “5”, which is seriously motoring. Somewhere around a “7” you will start noticing that “luck” begins to accelerate. It is bizarre, but a simple experiment will prove or disprove it. Six weeks would be a minimum. I would suggest committing to a YEAR, which is enough time to pass all seasons and holidays, and really anchor in your new being.

But six weeks will tell you if this is working. You’ll know. And if this path is for you…join us!
