Three Gates, Three Centers, and Healing Social Media
Looking at a few different things, most importantly the program I”ll design for Jason, which will also hold the root of the coaching methodology I’ll design for him. I will also point him at at least three alternative coaching programs, so that he will see different ways of approaching the same goal.
But I THINK — am not certain — that that goal, what he wants for his clients, and what I want for him, also connects to what I want for myself, and what I try to share in my life.
As Facebook has over a billion people, I believe it is a fairly reasonable cross-section of humanity, warts and all. One of my favorite absurdities there are people who seem to thrive on insult and conflict, but then blame “Washington” for gridlock. They don’t look at their own threads. It is obvious to me that the problem is that politics is about 1/2 herding cats, and that the people who cannot politely discuss contentious subjects would be worse, on average, than what we actually have making and interpreting laws.
IF someone can navigate FB without losing their center, that person’s opinion is of interest to me. THAT person has the right to say: “I think I could do better” even if they really couldn’t. At least they are in the game.
So…what IS it that allows one to operate on FB without slashing out with anger? Well, remember that anger is fear. If you have no fear for yourself or those you love, there is nothing to be angry about. And the more confident you are that…
