Why Do You Want It?

So today is the first work day of 2022. The goal is to increase my efficiency and effectiveness in all three arenas of my life by a decile. This translates by no math known to man as seeking 1% improvement per day in at least one of the the major arenas: relationship (with self and others), body (fitness and health) and mind (career).

I have to clearly define those goals (goals are “dreams with a deadline”) and then ask WHY I want them. Unless I can connect them to my most basic motivations (survival and reproduction are the most explosive and powerful, but love has the greatest endurance and growth potential) I will not continue long enough to succeed, and as soon as I run into obstacles, my ego will try to stop me (“you can’t. You mustn’t. Its too hard.”)

But if my goals are in alignment with my values, all the way down to survival. Look at the chakras: survival, sex, power, love, communication, intellect, and spirit. If you start at the base, and find a way for your goals to positively affect EVERY level of your being, do you think you’ll have more “motivation”?

Forget motivation. Have HUNGER to be all you can be in life, to express yourself to the absolute limits, for the sake of your entire being, your family, and your community. The world. The divine, however you define that.

WHAT do you want. Then WHY do you want it. Only after you know those does it make sense to ask HOW you will do it. This is a core mistake people make: they create “to do” lists of what they think needs to be done in a…
